Oil Dedicated to Mother Maria Luisa Zancajo de la Mata (Servant of God)
Servant of God, Apostle of Mercy, and Beating Heart of Maternal Compassion
Mother María Luisa Zancajo de la Mata, born in 1876 in Requena, Spain, devoted her life to the care of the sick, the poor, and the abandoned. Deeply inspired by Christ’s own mercy and nurturing love, she founded the Institute of the Missions of the Sacred Heart (also known as the Marian Missionaries) to serve those most in need—bringing spiritual solace and compassionate care to countless individuals and families.
From an early age, María Luisa felt God’s call to total self-giving. She embraced a humble religious life, committed to prayer, service, and surrender to God’s will. In 1897, she made her first religious profession, guided by a burning desire to bring Christ’s mercy to the world. She opened homes for orphans and the homeless, tended to the ill in hospitals and remote villages, and offered the comforting presence of Christ to many in their darkest hours.
Known as the “Angel of Charity,” Mother María Luisa discovered that every sick person carries the face of Christ. She nursed the dying with tenderness, listened to the aching hearts of the abandoned, and offered hope to the forgotten. Her life became a living Gospel—a witness to God’s unwavering love and mercy for all.
Her cause for canonization, now open with the title Servant of God, recognizes her heroic virtues and inspiring legacy. She is especially near the hearts of caregivers, nurses, missionaries, and anyone called to bring mercy into suffering and neglect.
Our Irish Blessing Oil dedicated to Mother María Luisa Zancajo de la Mata is prayerfully prepared in her spirit of selfless compassion. Each bottle is accompanied by a prayer card seeking her intercession—for caregivers and healthcare workers, for missionaries and teachers, and for all who offer comfort to the suffering and vulnerable.
Lovingly prayed over by the team at A Blessed Call to Love, offered as a spiritual reminder that no act of love goes unnoticed in the Kingdom of God. It is a call to compassionate presence in a world often marked by isolation and pain.
May the witness of Mother María Luisa inspire you to love with tender courage, to serve with joyful surrender, and to see in every person you meet the face of Christ who longs for compassion and hope.
