Our Lady of Lourdes (Patron for the Sick) – Christmas Oil
Our Lady of Lourdes is another name for the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus. She appeared to a young girl named Bernadette Soubirous in Lourdes, France, in 1858. Mary visited Bernadette 18 times, showing her love and care. During these visits, she asked for prayer, repentance, and the building of a chapel.
One day, Mary told Bernadette to dig into the ground. When Bernadette did, a spring of water appeared. This water is now called the “Lourdes Water.” Many people visit Lourdes to see this place and pray.
Our Lady of Lourdes is known as the Patron for the Sick because of the many healings that have happened at Lourdes. People believe the Lourdes Water has special blessings and healing power. Every year, millions of people visit Lourdes to ask for healing, strength, and peace.
She reminds us to have faith and trust in God’s care, especially in times of illness. Her love gives comfort to the sick and their families.
