St Gabriel the Archangel (For the Good News) – Christmas Oil
St. Gabriel the Archangel is one of the three archangels named in the Bible, along with Michael and Raphael. His name means “God is my strength.” St. Gabriel is best known as a messenger of God, entrusted with delivering important divine revelations and good news to humanity.
St. Gabriel is mentioned several times in Scripture:
To Daniel: In the Book of Daniel, Gabriel explains the prophet’s visions and foretells the coming of the Messiah.
To Zechariah: In the Gospel of Luke, Gabriel appears to Zechariah to announce that his wife Elizabeth would bear a son, John the Baptist, despite their old age.
To Mary: Gabriel’s most famous mission was the Annunciation, where he appeared to the Virgin Mary to deliver the joyful news that she would conceive and bear the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
St. Gabriel is regarded as the angel of communication, guidance, and strength, always carrying messages that reflect God’s love and plan for humanity.
St. Gabriel is the patron of messengers, communications, and those who deliver or receive good news. He is often invoked by those seeking clarity, strength, and the ability to share or understand important messages. As the angel of the Annunciation, he also represents hope, joy, and the fulfillment of God’s promises.
His feast day is celebrated on September 29, alongside St. Michael and St. Raphael.
