Blessed Mary of the Divine Heart, a soul entirely consecrated to Jesus. Born Maria Droste zu Vischering in 1863 into German nobility, she traded worldly privilege for the humble and hidden life of a religious sister. From a young age, her heart was drawn to the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus—a love burning with mercy for sinners and the forgotten. She entered the Congregation of the Good Shepherd, where she spent her life serving the poor, the abandoned, and those most in need of God’s tenderness.
Amidst her service, Mary of the Divine Heart received mystical revelations from Jesus, who entrusted her with the mission of spreading devotion to His Sacred Heart. He asked her to write to Pope Leo XIII, urging the Holy Father to consecrate the entire world to His Sacred Heart. Despite her frailty and illness, she obeyed. Moved by her letters and recognizing the urgency of Heaven’s request, Pope Leo XIII consecrated the entire human race to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1899—a momentous act in the Church’s history.
Today, Blessed Mary of the Divine Heart remains incorrupt, her body a silent witness to the grace and love she carried in life. She is a powerful intercessor for those seeking to draw closer to the Heart of Jesus and for the marginalized and suffering souls longing for comfort.
