Oil Dedicated to Martyr St Alena de Forest
St. Alena of Forest, also known as St. Alena of Dilbeek, lived in 7th-century Belgium and remains a powerful example of quiet yet steadfast faith. Born into a noble pagan family near Brussels, Alena secretly converted to Christianity after hearing the message of Christ’s love and truth. Her heart was captivated by the Christian faith, and though she knew her family disapproved, she faithfully attended Mass and received the sacraments in secret.
When her family discovered her conversion, they were filled with anger and betrayal. According to tradition, her father sent guards to follow her to the Christian gatherings. In the confrontation that followed, St. Alena courageously refused to renounce her faith. As a result, she was violently seized and suffered grievous injuries. Some accounts say she lost an arm in the struggle and succumbed to her wounds shortly after. She gave her life rather than betray her love for Christ.
After her death, miracles were reported at her tomb. Pilgrims came to seek her intercession, particularly those who, like her, struggled to remain faithful in secret or faced opposition for their beliefs. St. Alena’s story became a source of hope for hidden converts, for those who must quietly live their faith, and for anyone experiencing rejection or suffering because of their devotion to Christ.
Our Irish Blessing Oil dedicated to St. Alena of Forest is prayerfully prepared to honor her courageous witness and steadfast love for God. Each bottle comes with a prayer card seeking her intercession—for secret converts, for those persecuted by family or friends because of their faith, and for all who long to remain true to God in silence and humility.
