Andrew began his career as a lawyer, but after a deep personal conversion, he left his worldly pursuits to become a priest. He later joined the Theatine Order, dedicating his life to prayer, penance, and the spiritual care of priests and laypeople alike. He was known for his fervent celebration of the Mass and his constant reminder to all: “Think of death, so as to live well.”

Throughout his ministry, St. Andrew Avellino spoke of the importance of being spiritually prepared, since death can come at any moment. His own death is a testament to this message: while preparing to celebrate the Holy Mass, he was struck by a stroke and died soon after, having lived a life of constant vigilance and love for God.
