Oil Dedicated to St Bartholomew (Patron for Dermatology) from A Blessed Call To Love, Ireland.
St. Bartholomew, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus, is believed to have been a close follower and friend of Christ. In the Gospels, he is often identified as Nathanael, and he was introduced to Jesus by Philip. When Jesus saw him, He called Bartholomew “an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.” This encounter showed that Bartholomew was a man of great integrity and faith. After Jesus’ resurrection, Bartholomew went on to preach the Gospel in different parts of the world, spreading the message of Christ.
St. Bartholomew’s life revolves around his martyrdom. It is said that he traveled to India, Armenia, and other places to share the teachings of Jesus. While in Armenia, he was arrested for converting the king to Christianity. He refused to renounce his faith, even in the face of death. Bartholomew was brutally martyred by being skinned alive before being beheaded, remaining faithful to Jesus until the very end. His unwavering devotion and sacrifice made him one of the most revered saints in Christianity.
