St. Alphonsa was born in 1910 in Kerala, India. She was a young girl who felt a deep calling to serve God, and at the age of 13, she joined the Franciscan Clarist Congregation to become a nun. She faced many challenges in her life, including physical illness and pain.

St. Alphonsa suffered from various health problems, including a serious foot injury that caused her great pain throughout her life. Despite her suffering, she remained joyful, devoted to prayer, and deeply committed to her religious life. She became known for her patience, kindness, and unwavering faith in God. She passed away in 1946 at the age of 36.

St. Alphonsa is the patron saint for diseases of the feet. Her own experience of suffering from foot-related ailments and her perseverance through pain make her a symbol of strength for those facing similar struggles. People pray to her for healing from foot problems and other physical challenges, asking for her intercession and strength.
