St. Charbel was born in 1828 in Lebanon to a humble Maronite Christian family. From a young age, he felt a deep calling to devote his life to God. He joined the Lebanese Maronite Order and later became a hermit, living in solitude and prayer at the Hermitage of Saints Peter and Paul in Annaya.

St. Charbel lived a life of intense prayer, fasting, and humility. He dedicated himself completely to God, renouncing all worldly possessions and comforts. His holiness and devotion became widely known, even during his lifetime. He passed away on Christmas Eve in 1898.

St. Charbel is called the “Miracle Worker of the East” because of the countless miracles attributed to his intercession. After his death, his body remained incorrupt, exuding a mysterious light and a fragrant oil. Many people who visited his tomb reported miraculous healings and conversions.

Even today, people of all faiths seek St. Charbel’s intercession for healing from physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments. His miracles continue to inspire faith and devotion worldwide.
