Oil Dedicated to St Dymphna (Patron for Anxiety) – Christmas Oil
St. Dymphna was born in the 7th century in Ireland to a pagan king and a Christian mother. Her mother, who was a devout Christian, died when Dymphna was young, and her father, King Damon, was deeply grieved. In his sorrow, he turned away from his Christian faith and began seeking solace in pagan rituals. He became obsessed with finding a wife who resembled his late wife. When he could not find anyone suitable, he became infatuated with his own daughter, Dymphna.
Refusing her father’s advances, Dymphna fled to Belgium with her guardian, St. Gerebern, to live a life of prayer and service to God. Unfortunately, her father found her and, in his rage, had her killed. Dymphna was martyred for her commitment to preserving her purity and faith. She is remembered for her courage and devotion to God, even in the face of danger and abuse.
St. Dymphna is the patron saint of those suffering from anxiety, mental illness, and emotional distress. People turn to her for help in dealing with stress, fear, and overwhelming emotions. Her own life, marked by emotional turmoil and courage in the face of unimaginable challenges, makes her an advocate for those struggling with anxiety and other mental health issues.
She is also invoked by those who need strength and peace in times of mental or emotional crisis, offering solace and hope to those in need. St. Dymphna’s intercession is especially sought by those who are experiencing inner turmoil, panic attacks, or overwhelming feelings of fear.
