Born in Italy in the 13th century, Peregrine lived a troubled youth, initially opposing the Church. However, a personal encounter with Saint Philip Benizi, a holy priest, led him to a profound conversion. Inspired by grace, Peregrine joined the Servite Order, dedicating his life to prayer, penance, and humble service to the sick and poor.

Later in life, Peregrine himself was afflicted with cancer in his leg, and his doctors saw no choice but to amputate. On the night before his surgery, he spent hours in prayer before the crucifix, surrendering his suffering to Christ. Miraculously, when the doctors arrived, they found his cancer had completely disappeared—leaving him healed. This extraordinary event made Saint Peregrine a powerful intercessor for those battling cancer and serious illnesses.
