Oil Dedicated to St Rita of Cascia (Patron against Wounds) – Christmas Oil

St. Rita of Cascia was born in 1381 in Italy. She is often known as the “Saint of the Impossible” due to the many difficult and seemingly impossible challenges she faced in her life. As a young woman, she was married to an abusive man, but she remained patient and prayerful, hoping for his conversion. After her husband’s violent death, Rita chose to live as a widow, dedicating herself to prayer and service to others.

Rita entered the Augustinian convent at Cascia after her children died and her husband’s death led to a desire for peace. In the convent, she became known for her deep spirituality, humility, and compassion. She spent years in prayer, penance, and devotion, facing intense personal suffering and challenges, including a wound on her forehead, which was believed to be a miraculous mark resembling the crown of thorns. Rita died in 1457 and was canonized as a saint in 1900.

St. Rita is the patron saint of those suffering from wounds, especially those who face deep emotional and physical pain. The wound on her forehead, which she bore for many years, is a symbol of her own suffering and her ability to endure pain with grace and faith. She is also invoked by those facing difficult, seemingly impossible situations, asking for her intercession in times of hardship and distress.

People turn to St. Rita for healing from physical wounds, as well as for emotional or spiritual wounds. She is especially known for helping those who are enduring suffering because of relationships, loss, or personal struggles.
