Maria Cristina Ogier was born in Florence on March 9, 1955.
In 1959, when she was only four years old, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He learned to live with the physical limitations that the progress of the disease brought him. Neither did he make a secret of his illness nor flaunt it, but rather he lived his life intensely.
He lived in constant and prodigious communion with God, recognizing him and serving him in his brothers.
Franciscan tertiary, to help the sick, she wanted to be a lady of Unitalsi to accompany them and assist them in their journeys of hope to Lourdes. She was ill and committed herself, to the utmost strength, to give comfort and assistance to the other sick people.
He involved many, even writing to the newspapers, in works of charity in favor of the sick, the poor and the missions.
Her “love without borders” inspired her to set up a river boat. Equipped as a small hospital which she sent to the Amazon River and which bears her name. For this initiative he asked and obtained the help of the Livorno dockers who fascinated by the simplicity and determination of Maria Cristina.
He inspired welfare works and residential structures. Which he wanted “as beautiful as his home”, for the disabled. The elderly and children. In Italy and abroad that still exist today.
His tomb is in the cemetery of the Porte Sante in San Miniato al Monte in Florence where many go to ask for his intercession.
The life of Maria Cristina, her commitment. Her spiritual itinerary continues to question many. Who still trying to give meaning to life, pain and suffering.
