Oil Dedicated to St Charitini
St Charitini lived during the reign of the Emperor Diocletian.
She was adopted by a good Christian man while she was still an infant. This man, Claudius, raised the child as if she were his daughter.
Charitini was rich in the virtues of humility and obedience. Having studied the Law of God and promised to live her life as a pure bride of Christ, others were inspired to become followers of Christ, too.
Saint Charitini’s strong faith and positive influence on others angered the authorities and caused her to be brought to trial. When with courage she proclaimed her faith in answer to the accusations of the judge, she was condemned to be tortured. Again and again she was saved from the cruelty of the soldiers. Finally, the judge sent some young men to rape her. Saint Charitini prayed that God would protect her virginity. Right then, as she prayed, her soul left her body and she died in glorious purity
