Oil Dedicated to St Gangulphus 7 (Patron for Marital Difficulties and Adultery)
St Gangulphus 7 (Patron for Marital Difficulties and Adultery) from A Blessed Call To Love, Ireland.
Saint Gangulphus of Burgundy is a lesser-known saint venerated in the Roman Catholic Church. There not much detailed information about him, especially due to the age of the records and the fact that he not widely recognized outside certain locales. He lived in the 8th century and was a courtier at the court of Pepin, but decided to abandon his courtly life to live as a hermit.
The popular legend about St. Gangulphus involves his wife’s infidelity. According to the story, Gangulphus’ wife was unfaithful to him. Despite this, Gangulphus showed great patience and forgiveness, demonstrating Christian virtues of love and forgiveness. This story is likely the reason why he considered the patron saint for marital difficulties and adultery, as he represents patience and forgiveness in the face of these trials.
His feast day celebrated on May 11. He usually depicted as a knight in armor, often with a falcon on his wrist (a symbol of his nobility) and sometimes with a fountain or spring (alluding to a miracle associated with him).
Please note that the veneration of saints and their assigned patronages can vary greatly among different cultural and regional traditions within the Catholic Church. Saints often designated as patrons of certain causes or professions based on stories from their lives, their work, or miracles attributed to their intercession. Therefore, these designations not universally accepted or recognized. It’s always a good idea to check multiple sources or consult with a religious authority for the most accurate and updated information.
