Saint Gangulphus of Burgundy is a lesser-known saint venerated in the Roman Catholic Church. He lived in the 8th century and was a courtier at the court of Pepin, but decided to abandon his courtly life to live as a hermit.

Despite this, Gangulphus showed great patience and forgiveness, demonstrating Christian virtues of love and forgiveness. This story is likely the reason why he considered the patron saint for marital difficulties and adultery, as he represents patience and forgiveness in the face of these trials.
