Oil Dedicated to St Jacinta 3 (Patron for Sick People)
St Jacinta 3 (Patron for Sick People) from A Blessed Call To Love, Ireland.
Saint Jacinta Marto, one of the three children to whom the Blessed Virgin Mary allegedly appeared in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917.
Jacinta Marto, together with her brother Francisco and cousin Lucia, reported visions of the Virgin Mary who shared with them three secrets, now known as the Three Secrets of Fatima.
Jacinta and Francisco Marto were both victims of the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918-20. Francisco died in 1919 at the age of 10, while Jacinta succumbed to the disease a year later in 1920 at the age of 9.
Jacinta, in particular, demonstrated heroic virtue in the midst of her suffering, offering up her pain for the conversion of sinners, as she said the Virgin Mary asked her to do. Her devotion and the manner in which she bore her suffering could be the reason she is invoked as a patron for sick people.
Both Jacinta and Francisco Marto were beatified in 2000 and canonized in 2017 by Pope Francis. They the youngest non-martyrs to declared saints in the history of the Catholic Church.
