St Amand Healing Oil (Patron for Bartenders)
St Amand Healing Oil (Patron for Bartenders) from A Blessed Call To Love, Ireland.
Saint Amand (or Amandus) was a Christian saint and bishop who lived in the seventh century. He is venerated as the patron saint of bartenders, brewers, and wine merchants, due to his association with the production and consumption of alcohol.
According to tradition, Amand was born into a noble family in what is now Belgium. He became a monk at an early age, and spent many years traveling throughout Europe as a missionary, spreading the Christian faith and performing acts of charity.
In the course of his travels, Amand became known for his skill as a healer, and it said that he able to cure many illnesses and ailments through the use of prayer and blessed oils. One of the most famous of these oils the “Amandus oil,” a healing oil that said to be effective against a wide range of illnesses.
In addition to his work as a healer, Amand also remembered for his advocacy of temperance and his opposition to drunkenness and excess. Despite his association with the production and consumption of alcohol, he believed that moderation was key to enjoying the pleasures of life without succumbing to temptation or addiction.
Today, Saint Amand revered as a model of Christian virtue and an inspiration to those who work in the alcohol industry. His feast day celebrated on February 6, and many bartenders and brewers still invoke his name and use his blessed oil in their work, seeking his intercession and protection as they go about their daily tasks.
