St Epipodius Healing Oil (Patron Victims of Betrayal) from A Blessed Call To Love, Ireland.

Saint Epipodius, also known as Epipodius of Lyon, was a martyr and saint who lived in the Roman Empire during the 2nd century. He is venerated in the Catholic Church and is considered one of the patron saints of Lyon, France.

Epipodius was born in Athens, Greece, and traveled to Rome to study law. While in Rome, he converted to Christianity and became a disciple of St. Iranaeus, who later became the bishop of Lyon. Epipodius traveled with Iranaeus to Lyon and became a deacon in the local Christian community.

During the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius, Christianity illegal and Christians were often persecuted. Epipodius and his friend Alexander arrested and brought before the governor of Lyon. They tortured and ordered to renounce their faith, but they refused and eventually beheaded.

Epipodius and Alexander’s martyrdom had a profound impact on the Christian community in Lyon. They remembered as courageous and faithful witnesses to the Gospel, and their memory honored through the establishment of a church in their honor.

St. Epipodius also celebrated as one of the martyrs of the Early Church. His feast day celebrated on April 22nd, along with that of his companion, St. Alexander. His life and witness continue to inspire Christians to remain faithful to their beliefs, even in the face of persecution and adversity.
