Dear St. Genevieve, Patron for Fever and Sickness of the Eyes, we come before you seeking your intercession and healing grace. Like you, who showed unwavering faith and courage during times of illness and affliction, we ask for your guidance and protection. In times of fever and sickness of the eyes, be our advocate before the throne of God, bringing comfort and relief to those who suffer. Grant strength to the weary, healing to the sick, and solace to the afflicted. May your example of faith inspire us to trust in God’s providence and to persevere in times of trial. St. Genevieve,  intercede for us, that we may experience the soothing touch of divine mercy and the restoration of health in body and spirit. Amen.

Saint Genevieve, revered as the patron saint for fever and sickness of the eyes, lived during the 5th century in France. Born in Nanterre, near Paris, around 422 AD, she dedicated her life to piety and prayer from a young age. At just seven years old, she made a vow of perpetual virginity, committing herself to a life of devout service to God.

Genevieve’s reputation for holiness grew. And she became known for her remarkable acts of charity and her ability to heal the sick. During the siege of Paris by the Huns in 451 AD. She encouraged the inhabitants to trust in God and provided them with food and other necessities. Earning widespread admiration and respect.

One of the most famous stories about Saint Genevieve involves her intercession during a severe famine in Paris. According to legend, she led a procession through the streets, praying fervently for relief. Miraculously, a shipload of grain arrived soon after, saving the city from starvation.

Saint Genevieve also played a significant role in protecting Paris from invasion. She is said to have persuaded the city’s inhabitants not to flee when Attila the Hun threatened to attack. Assuring them of divine intervention. Her prayers were believed to have diverted Attila’s forces away from the city, sparing it from destruction.

Throughout her life, Saint Genevieve remained dedicated to prayer and penance. She founded a convent on the left bank of the Seine River. Where she lived a life of asceticism and guided other women in their spiritual journeys.

After her death in 512 AD, Saint Genevieve’s tomb became a site of pilgrimage. And numerous miracles reported at her intercession. Over the centuries, she has continued to be venerated as a patron saint of Paris and invoked by those seeking healing from fevers and eye ailments.

Saint Genevieve’s unwavering faith, compassion for the sick and suffering. And her profound devotion to God have made her a beloved figure in Christian history. Inspiring countless individuals to emulate her virtues of charity, courage, and trust in divine providence.
