Ermelinda Rigon ( Frinco d’Asti , 21 November 1889 – Genoa , 6 January 1973 ) was an Italian teacher. Founder in Genoa in 1942 of the religious congregation ” Dominican Cenacle ” and considered a Servant of God by the Catholic Church.
Ermelinda Rigon was born in Frinco d ‘ Asti in 1889 in a stable from a modest but dignified family. She graduated as a teacher and immediately began the teaching profession. The family soon moves to Genoa, where her father gets a job as a postman and Ermelinda teaches in public schools.
She approaches the Ligurian Catholic organizations, and will be fascinated by the charism of St. Dominic who will guide her in the most profound religious choices. Her interest in the sciences of education and in the profession of teacher pushed her to continue her studies until obtaining a degree in philosophy and pedagogy .
Its most incisive action in the area was the foundation in Genoa in 1923 of the “House of teachers”. A reception facility and place of training for teachers, subsequently affiliated with the Dominican Order. And founded as a religious congregation with the name of Dominican Cenacle.
