Oil Dedicated to St Aloysius Gonzaga 3 (Patron for the Blind) from A Blessed Call To Love, Ireland.

Saint Aloysius Gonzaga, the Patron for the Blind, was a devout Italian Jesuit who lived in the late 16th century. Born into an aristocratic family in 1568, Aloysius showed exceptional piety and a deep love for God from an early age. His unwavering faith and selflessness led him to become a symbol of inspiration for the blind.

Despite being destined for a life of privilege and power, Aloysius felt a calling to dedicate his life to serving God and others. He renounced his inheritance and joined the Society of Jesus at the age of 18. Aloysius embraced a life of poverty, chastity, and obedience, embodying the core values of his religious order.

Aloysius’ compassion extended particularly towards the blind. He recognized the unique challenges they faced and sought to alleviate their suffering. His empathy and commitment to the blind earned him the title of Patron for the Blind. Aloysius dedicated himself to understanding their struggles, providing comfort, and advocating for their rights.

He tirelessly worked to promote education and social integration for the blind, emphasizing their inherent dignity and worth. Aloysius encouraged others to treat them with kindness, respect, and equality, fostering a more inclusive society.

Despite his own frail health, Aloysius was unwavering in his commitment to serve others. In 1591, while caring for victims of a plague epidemic in Rome, he contracted the disease himself and passed away at the young age of 23. His selfless sacrifice and devotion to the well-being of others left an indelible mark on the world.

Today, St. Aloysius Gonzaga continues to inspire and intercede for the blind. Offering solace and strength to those facing visual impairments. His life serves as a reminder of the power of compassion, the importance of advocacy, and the transformative impact of selfless love. As the Patron for the Blind, he remains a guiding light, encouraging us to embrace inclusivity and to work towards a world where every individual treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their abilities.
