Saint Peregrine Healing (d. May 1, 1345) a Servite priest (Order of the Servants of Mary) who the victim of a spreading cancer in his leg.
The disease so painful and foul that he was scheduled for an amputation.
Peregrine spent the night before the operation in prayer, both for his leg to be saved.
If God chose this suffering for him to bear, that he would receive it with humility and trust.
In answer to his prayer, Peregrine received a vision of Christ who touched the diseased area of his leg.
The next morning, Peregrine found his cancer completely healed.
Ever since, St. Peregrine has been the patron saint of cancer patients, skin diseases, AIDS sufferers, and the sick.
His feast day is May 1st.
Saint Peregrine born in 1260 to a wealthy family and became an activist against the papal party of his hometown, Forli, Italy.
Forli part of the Papal States and therefore governed by the Pope. Many, including St. Peregrine’s family, opposed to being under the governance of the pope.
During one of the uprisings he took part of, the chance to slap St. Philip Benizi and he took it.
Saint Philip Benizi responded by turning the other cheek and St. Peregrine’s life never be the same.

On this day, we offer a heartfelt prayer to St. Peregrine, the Patron for cancer sufferers. St. Peregrine, we turn to you with hope and trust, seeking your intercession for those battling cancer. Like you, who experienced the pain of illness, inspire strength and courage in those affected by this disease. May your guiding spirit bring comfort and healing, and may those with cancer feel the soothing presence of God in their challenging journey. St. Peregrine, be a source of solace and support for all facing the trials of cancer, and may your prayers bring about the grace of God, offering them peace and endurance during their struggles. Amen.
